Find essential information and answers to our frequently asked questions.

Q:

Can you provide additional housekeeping services outside changeover days?

A:

We would be very happy to discuss your requirements: just email your enquiry to holidays@duchyofcornwall.org or telephone 01579 346 473.

Q:

What happens if I need to cancel my holiday?

A:

If you need to cancel a booking for any reason, we ask that you notify us in writing by email or post. We will try to re-let the property, and if we are successful in doing this for all or part of the period booked we will return to you any sums received by us, up to the amount you paid for the period re-let (minus a £100 administration fee). To achieve a re-letting, we may need to offer a discount at our discretion. We regret that if we are unable to re-let the property, we will not be able to provide a refund.

Q:

Can we bring an extra person and use a folding bed?

A:

A folding bed can be provided in some cottages by agreement, at an additional charge of £50.

Q:

Do you provide washing powder?

A:

Your cottage will be stocked with washing powder and all of the cleaning products you’ll need during your stay, including detergent, dishwasher tablets, hand soap, and so on.

Q:

Do you provide a hair dryer?

A:

Yes, a hair dryer is provided at every property.

Q:

Is linen provided?

A:

We provide all sheets, duvet covers, pillowcases and towels. We also provide pool towels at our Restormel Collection properties.

Q:

What’s in the welcome pack?

A:

All of our holiday cottages provide a welcome pack, which generally includes some local produce and FairTrade products so that you can arrive to light refreshments. Our Cornish properties normally provide freshly ground coffee, tea, milk, jam, biscuits, local apple juice, fresh scones and clotted cream.

Q:

How will I get the keys to my cottage?

A:

You’ll receive directions and information about how to pick up your keys when you have paid the final balance for your holiday.

Q:

Will I get a reminder to pay my balance?

A:

We will send you a reminder by email seven days before your balance is due, with a link to pay the balance online via our secure payment system. The balance is due eight weeks before the date of your arrival. If you prefer not to pay online, please call our team on 01579 346 473 and we’ll be happy to help.

Q:

Do your cottages have Wi-Fi?

A:

Yes, all of our cottages have free wireless broadband internet access.

Q:

Can I bring a pet?

A:

No pets other than dogs are able to stay in our cottages.

Q:

Can we bring our dogs?

A:

Many of our cottages can accommodate a maximum of two well behaved dogs, at £30 per dog per week. To find out more, take a look at our dog-friendly cottages section.

Q:

When are short breaks available?

A:

Short breaks are normally available from October to March, excluding school holiday weeks. We will also consider short breaks if cottages have last-minute availability during the rest of the year (within one week of the arrival date).

Q:

Do you supply cots and high chairs?

A:

We can supply travel cots suitable for children up to 24 months old, highchairs and stair gates, all free of charge.

Q:

Are your cottages accessible for people with disabilities or limited mobility?

A:

The majority of our cottages are old buildings with changes in level. Some may have narrow, steep staircases and will have indistinct colours on steps and in corridors. You can view Design & Access Statements on individual cottage web pages but we recommend you email any enquiries to holidays@duchyofcornwall.org or phone us on 01579 346 473.

Q:

What time do we need to leave?

A:

Please leave no later than 10am on your departure date. We really do need to start work straight away and our housekeepers will let themselves into the cottage at 10am promptly.

Q:

What time can we arrive?

A:

You can arrive for your holiday from 4pm. If you get here earlier than this, you won’t be able to access the cottage as our housekeepers need all the time between changeovers to make it perfect for your arrival.
