Watch the world wind down as winter settles in, bringing the delights of frost-laced walks and evenings by the fireside.
Wrap up warm and head out into the quiet winter landscape. At this time of year, seasonal crowds have dispersed and it’s possible to explore local beauty spots and attractions without seeing a soul.
In Cornwall, many beaches are dog friendly during the quieter months, with a wild winter beauty you don’t often see on holiday posters. On a bright morning, gentle winter sunshine illuminates the peaceful coastal paths and sand dunes. If it’s drizzly, retreat to one of the local attractions that open all year, including the Eden Project, Blue Reef Aquarium and National Maritime Museum Cornwall.
On the Isles of Scilly, winter ushers in a season of peace as visitor numbers lower. Take advantage of the quiet to mingle with the community beside pub fires and in local shops. With a milder climate than most other UK locations, the islands are a wonderful setting for walks and wildlife spotting. Higher temperatures mean exotic plants continue to flower long beyond those on the mainland.
When you return, settle in front of a fire with a hot drink and a board game or book. Many of our cottages have open fireplaces or wood burning stoves, with complimentary logs provided from our own woodlands.
