Steval is a former gun battery caretaker’s quarters in one of the most beautiful and secluded locations of the Isles of Scilly on the historic Garrison on St Mary’s. Steval nestles behind former Victorian gun emplacements and has an extensive private garden to the rear with various seating areas amongst the former gun emplacements with unrivalled sea views. Garden furniture and a barbecue are provided.
The interior of the cottage has been carefully refurbished and beautifully furnished to provide a comfortable, well equipped base for an enjoyable holiday.
The accommodation at Steval comprises a kitchen / dining area leading to the sitting room with large picture window enjoying the wonderful sea view, a double and twin bedroom and family bathroom.
Beautifully furnished with subtle lighting, wood burning stove and high quality soft furnishings. Flat screen TV with DVD player and hi-fi with iPod docking station. A selection of DVDs, games and books are supplied. Wireless broadband internet access is also provided.
The traditional painted kitchen has slate work tops and has been comprehensively equipped with dishwasher, combined washing machine and tumble dryer, fridge / freezer, cooker with ceramic hob, oven and all conceivable cookware, crockery, glassware, cook books etc.
There are two bedrooms, one with a double bed and the other with two single beds.
The bathroom has traditional sanitary ware, bath with shower over, wash basin and w.c. The bathroom has a heated towel rail and recessed lighting.
Steval has electric heating and towels and linen are provided. All electricity and heating including logs are included in the tariff, together with a welcome pack and complimentary toiletries.
Due to the historic nature of the property and its unique location, there are some unguarded high walls and it is essential that young children are supervised at all times.
Guests travelling to Steval can access the property via taxi on arrival and departure but the be prepared for the walk which is approximately half a mile from Hugh Town (10 minutes on a country track). We regret that pets cannot be accommodated and smoking within the house is not permitted.
