GREEN TOURISM BUSINESS SCHEME

The Duchy is delighted to announce that we have recently joined The Green Tourism Business Scheme and have achieved an initial Silver Award signifying very good environmental practice for Restormel Cottage and Pawton Mill. We are working to ensure that all our other properties are graded in the near future.  As an organisation, we aim to make our holiday cottages as environmentally friendly as possible.

Our aims are:-

·      To promote sustainable tourism which will positively contribute to the local economy, meeting the needs of     visitors, business and local communities.

·      Purchase local products and services and provide quality part and full time employment opportunities.

·      Purchase recycled and bio degradable products wherever possible.

·      To promote good environmental practice.

·      Retain and enhance some unique properties ensuring best conservation practice is observed.

We recognise that there is still much to do and hope that some problems can be overcome, including the lack of recycling

facilities on the Isles of Scilly

We hope to achieve a Gold award in 2007
